Chelmsford City continues to grow. The latest news published by Essex Live News sees a major breakthrough in plans for the £3.5bn London Resort theme park near Essex.
The company behind the highly-anticipated London Resort theme park near Essex have issued their latest update on the £3.5bn park. Set to become the largest European theme park since Disneyland Paris was built, the resort will be opened just a few miles from the Essex border in 2024.
London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) is proposing to develop a world-class, sustainable, next-generation entertainment resort on the banks of the River Thames near Dartford, Kent.
Construction of the first of two main parks is set to begin in 2021 ready for the grand opening, with the second park not likely to open before 2029
What will the London Resort offer?
The resort will be one of the largest construction projects across Europe.
Those behind the plans claim it will be one of the largest and most immersive experience centres anywhere in the world, and these are some of the things we can expect:
- A resort three times larger than any other park in the UK
- Two theme parks and a resort water park set over 535 acres
- 3,500 hotel rooms
- Rides based on BBC, ITV shows and Paramount films
The High Street region of the park will be situated near a central plaza with a huge decorative arch leading into the park.
It is also expected that almost 70 per cent of attractions will be undercover so that the park can operate in all weathers conditions.
The company behind the resort hopes for planning proposals to be submitted later this year, with a view to the resort opening in 2024.
